Behind The Lens

Location

This was taken at the New Orleans, LA zoo.

Time

I took this around 1PM in the afternoon on a sunny day.

Lighting

I was lucky enough that the bear stood still for me, almost like he was posing!

Equipment

I used a D750 camera, with a Nikkor AFS 28-300 3.5-5.6 lens. This was done leaning against a wooden fence for support.

Inspiration

My camera was purchased about 2 weeks prior to taking a trip to the zoo. I purposely took the trip to the zoo to 'work' with the new camera. My previous camera was a Nikon D80. There's so much more low light capabilities with the newer digital SLR's and I wanted to push my camera and learn by doing so.

Editing

Minor processing done. I cropped just a little tighter and adjusted shadows a slight amount using Photoshop LightRoom.

In my camera bag

D750, 2 lenses (zoom 28-300, and a 50mm), a flash, and a tri-pod.

Feedback

Make sure your steady (tripod) or leaning against something. That's the number one issue with photo's not being perfectly clear. Auto-focus only does so much!
