Behind The Lens

Location

Swellendam

Time

Goldon Hour - between 6-7pm

Lighting

I had to wait for the sun to set over the heals for the glare of the su to get the effect I was waiting for. It took timing and waiting for the perfect moment to capture the image.

Equipment

Nikon D800, 24-70mm lens and tripod.

Inspiration

I love nature and "wild life" photography and I have always wanted to take this photo of the perfext setting, perfect lightning and on a farm. Nature is one place where I connect and where the pure bliss and serenity of it all inspires me. It makes me feel content and this image represents myself and where I want to be at life: "Content, at peace and living the beauty of what nature offers."

Editing

Not much - i only put more contrast in the clouds to bring it in preportion with the colours and brightness of the animals.

In my camera bag

Nikon D800e, 24-70mm lens, 50mm lens, Flash, 70-300mm lens, extra Memory Card and my tripod is with me at all times.

Feedback

The location is essence, your position and angle you take it from. You need to visualize the image and know exactly what you want before you go to capture the image. The golden hour is presious and you only have limited time to capture it. Set up your tripod before hand and take photos to see if the position you are in will work with the lighting and setting of sunset.
