This photo was taken at the base of Mt Evans in Colorado, I was looking for a waterfall at the time and found a small unmarked turnoff and I found this great site.Time
Mid summer in the late afternoonLighting
The whole area was shaded by the trees but had enough light to be able to slow the exposure to get the effect I wanted ..Equipment
Canon IS5S with a QSX-Digi Pro 8500 tripod, No Flash, I used ultraviolet and polarizing filters to take the glare off the water.Inspiration
I was looking for a great waterfall or river shot at the time, Living in Colorado I have access to many different places to shoot, found this place by accident, however that seems to happen often. Great captures can happen when you least expect them.Editing
I do try to keep post processing to a minimum, however, I did turn up the color saturation up to 50% due to the original was a bit dark and very bland .In my camera bag
I usually keep extra batteries with me at all times, a power inverter to be able to charge all of my equipment if needed, a cleaning system for my camera, I also carry a GoPro to take waterfall videos for my Facebook page, People seem to like the relaxing effect that the waterfalls give them, I also carry a Asus tablet to be able to publish my photos while I am on the road. along with survival gear, just in case I am ever in a bad predicament and have to stay outdoors for any length of time ..Feedback
The advice I can give is to be patient, for long exposure shots use a tripod compose your photo to exactly capture what your mind and eyes see, use low ISO (I chose 200 for this shot) and a long exposure .. also, examine your photos while your at the site, in case you need to re-adjust settings, lighting, position. The beauty is there you just have to capture it the way your eyes see it and how your mind relates to the scene that you want to capture ..The greatest piece of advice is to have fun in all your photographic endeavors.
