I loved this little guy, shot at Dudley zoo. He just stared at me with a look of being so fed up with life or possibly thinking when the cameraman was going to give him some sort of direction!

I swear this animal represents the look with regards to the way I feel after a hard day at work. Excellent job catching the moment. I can't say enough good things about the shot. Shawn.

This photo was taken at Dudley Zoo in the west midlands.I grew up in Dudley and decided to take my family to see where I grew up. As a child I was always going to the zoo, absolutely adore it, I love photographing animals, I just have a different energy with my shots. I connect with them through the viewfinder. It's an amazing feeling.Time
This was taken around 2pm on a hot summers day, I had just been photographing the monkeys and it was feeding time, this little fella was in a hall if I remember, looking so fed up with life after moving from lying down. it was just a perfect time to shoot.Lighting
The light came straight through the clear roof, diffusing it just enough to take the edge away and filtered through the foliage. The time of day was perfect and the sun had moved just enough. He was too hot and had moved to where you can see him in the picture. I do have a wonderful picture of him sun bathing just before he moved. It was almost as if it was a "sigh... I have had to move" moment.Equipment
I had my old 6D and a 50mm if I remember, 2.8 @1/60 but don't quote me on that. I'm shooting in the middle of nowhere as I type this but will check when I'm back in my studio!Inspiration
Every so often you get that one shot that just happens, the light is perfect, the subject is in the right pose, it's almost if he wanted his fed upness known to the world, the connection was just there. The shot found Me!Editing
A slight crop a few minor adjistments and that's it. Think it was about 5min i spent on it. I firmly believe in getting the shot right through the camera, if your spending hours on a shot in post, adjusting every element of the picture then it takes away what photography actually is.In my camera bag
5dmkIII and my trusty 6D with 70/200 2.8 and a 1.4 50mm for lenses. If I need anything else I will hire but those 2 lenses cover 90% of my shoots. I try to work on how I would if I was using film, making sure exposure, composition etc is as good as it can be before I make the shot. I use a 480ex flash and a light metre occasionally. Most of my equipment is studio based, 6x7 hilite, lumen 400w flash head's and colour gels, umbrella and a large softbox.Feedback
Passion first, always.shoot what you love, connect to the subject, find that energy and take that shot regardless if its wildlife, portraits or weddings, that's the difference between a good shot and a wow shot, You Can See It In The Shot. When it comes to wildlife photography it all comes down to one thing. Patience! The shot will find you, just take your time and it will come! And practise. Practise practise! Shoot at every opportunity that comes your way and eventually you find your own style And finally print your work, nothing beats having your shot proudly mounted on your wall or that one killer wedding shot on your customers mantel piece. Digital shots get forgotten over time, prints are forever!
