Behind The Lens

Location

Bozeman, Montana at the end of the driveway at my cousin’s house just before we left for the airport to head back to Georgia.

Time

Early morning Bozeman time. I had a point and shoot Panasonic LUMIX that I quickly took out of my bag and took the photo. I’ve never seen poppies in Georgia so I wanted to get a quick shot. This was in June 2016 and I took my nephew on this trip because I had just lost my dad, his Papa, to cancer. I had borrowed the camera for the trip, and the photography bug bit me hard while exploring the West and I’ve been in love with it ever since this shot.

Lighting

At that time I knew absolutely nothing about lighting.

Equipment

Panasonic LUMIX point and shoot that borrowed for this trip to Montana and Wyoming.

Inspiration

I had never seen unpicked poppies, especially one popping out of its ‘shell’.

Editing

At that time I knew nothing about photography. I just took a lucky shot!

In my camera bag

I’m fully geared up now with Canon 6D Markii, 50mm, 70-200, and 100-400.

Feedback

For me it’s to always enjoy the little things and be looking for whatever it is that inspires you...create your own style and be who you are as a photographer, but always be learning new things. I try to learn something new every single day!
