Behind The Lens

Location

I am a self taught photographer who likes to take nature photos. I took this photo at Alexander Ramsey Park in Redwood Falls Minnesota while on a data with my girlfriend who is an actual photographer.

Time

I have seen many pictures of reflections on water and I wanted to try my hand at it. I took this photo on November 13th 2015 around 3:30pm after a hour and a half drive with my girlfriend so she could take pictures. While walking around the creek that was there I saw the great reflection that was being produced by the lush colors and calm waters where I snapped the picture.

Lighting

I wanted the reflection to be awesome and filled with color, the best part about when I took the picture the sun was in the perfect spot to allow for the best lighting possible.

Equipment

This was taken on my Nikon D3100 using a 18-55mm lens held in my hand with no flash just the light from the sun.

Inspiration

Seeing all the other pictures with a great reflection from water made me want to try. And the lush colors from the beautiful fall day was the perfect chance for the reflection.

Editing

On this picture I didn't do much editing, all I did was bring up the colors a touch but nothing else.

In my camera bag

My bag is tiny! It holds my camera and lens attached to each other, a shutter release cable, along with a small tripod, a battery charger and a lens hood.

Feedback

Some advice would be to find something you want to take pictures of and take your time! Also don't delete the pictures you take before you upload them!
