Behind The Lens

Location

The photo was taken at Rolling Wheels Dirt Track in Weedsport NY. Happy Anniversary to my husband of 30 years. I purchased a Kenny Wallace ride package. He has a secret desire to be a Nascar driver.

Time

We arrived at the track early for a 8:00 appointment. We knew from a past driving experience, that it would be a wait. A wait it was. They had to unload cars, check everyone in and finally have the driving school. It was a very hot and sunny day. A believe shortly after 10, my husband, Gary was the first driver on the track.

Lighting

Just the natural sunlight.

Equipment

I used a Nikon D3100

Inspiration

My daughter is my inspiration. Since we had a very hot and dry summer, I was surprised to have had my umbrellas in the car. The bleachers had no sun protection, so I suggested the umbrella. I was at the other end of the bleachers snapping picture of my husband getting into his car and such, and turned around to say something to our daughter, Vanessa. I noticed she had sat down, waiting to video her dad. I just thought is was a cool picture of her "waiting".

Editing

I usually don't do any type of post-processing with my pictures, just maybe adjust the clarity, just simple things. I'm not in anyway a pro, I leave that up to my son. To tell the truth, I really don't know what I'm doing. I really enjoy taking pictures, some are good, some are great and some aren't.

In my camera bag

I have a backup camera, my old Canon Powershot SX140. I just recently purchased from a friend the Nikon, because I wanted something I could take better macros with. My son, the pro, did purchase for me a lens.
