Behind The Lens

Location

The shot was taken at the Island Gräddö Asken in the Stockholm archipelago, my dad has a summer house there and I spend quite an amount of time out there during the months of June until August.

Time

I usually prefer to shoot in later afternoons or evenings when the light is warmer then during midday when shooting under a clear sky. This photo was taken the 20 June, 2016 around 6 PM.

Lighting

No extra lighting added.

Equipment

This was taken with a Canon EOS Kiss X5 with an Sigma 150-500 f/5-6,3 DG HSM APO lens.

Inspiration

During summer time lots of seabirds and waders nest on the island. When the lighting/weather is right i have a few well known places i go and check out to see if there is something worth capturing.

Editing

I usually dont post-process my photos that hard, in this one I added some contrast and vibrance and a bit of saturation. Since it was taken in RAW-format i also sharpened it up.

In my camera bag

I usually travel on foot when im out trying to find something worth capturing so I prefer to take so little as possible with me. I have my Canon EOS Kiss X5 body and my Sigma 150-500 f/5-6,3 DG HSM APO lens mounted to it.

Feedback

When photographing birds the key is patience and a bit of luck more times than not i come home empty handed.
