Behind The Lens

Location

I took this photo on Coronado Island in San Diego , California

Time

We had been driving home from dinner with family around 630pm. I asked my uncle to stop the car so I could get out and shoot. I remember thinking how beautiful the sky looked.

Lighting

I waited in the sand while the sun set just below the horizon.

Equipment

This was shot with my Canon 5D Mark3 using the 17-40 L . No flash. I took this with no tripod laying facedown in the sand as waves were crashing Infront of me.

Inspiration

I had been admiring sunset / beach photos and had been wanting to get a shot while we were visiting family. I was telling them all day how I wanted to get this magical shot.

Editing

There were some simple edits made using Polarr. Just some work on exposure and highlights were done.

In my camera bag

I normally carry my camera with two lenses. My 17-40 f/4 and my 50 f1.8. Always have a few extra batteries and as cards. Usually I try and make sure i have my tripod and flash with me as well.

Feedback

Don't try to overcomplicate the shot. Play around with angles as well. Make sure you get in there and don't be afraid to get wet or dirty. The more nervous the shot makes you taking it sometimes the better t turns out !
