Location
This photo was taken in Laguna Beach, California. Laguna Beach offers so many locations to plant your camera and enjoy the view. This spot is one of my favorites because of the mystery castle tower off to the right.Time
I took my sister down to shoot some graduation photos just before the sunset. Every once in a while I would switch my focus to take some photos of the sun setting. We ended up staying until the sun fully went down leaving us with a peaceful feeling. We were very lucky to be present for such a beautiful sunset.Lighting
I loved the look to sun gave off the water when I softened this photo. It looks so inviting to just hop right in and take a swim.Equipment
I use a Nikon D7000 that I love and had on a 18-200mm lens. My tripod was definitely necessary to have for shots like these.Inspiration
I have always had a passion for the beach. My mom would take my friend and I almost every weekend during summers. Now that we can drive we go all the time. Everyone is drawn to the water because it gives off a peaceful yet powerful feeling. There is nothing better then sitting back and enjoying the sun set over the ocean water (with your camera of course!).Editing
Yes, I love playing around with photos in Lightroom and Photoshop. I felt the softening effect worked great with this one. I think it makes the setting more relaxed then it already is.In my camera bag
Normally I carry all my equipment at all times. It consists of my D7000, Nikon AF-S DX NIKKOR 18-200mm f/3.5-5.6G ED VR II Lens, Nikon AF-S NIKKOR 50mm f/1.8G Lens and Rokinon 8mm Ultra Wide Angle f/3.5 Fisheye Lens. I have my Nikon SB-700 AF Speedlight and tripod along too.Feedback
Any spot you choose in Laguna is going to produce breathtaking images. With sunset pictures I think its best to load up on them. I came home after this sunset with over 200 images. You always think, this one will be better then the last. It is always best to have too many then not enough. Once you're situated just play with it, switch up settings, put on filters and see what you like best. This is my first blog about a photo, thanks for reading!
