This was taken at the child's first birthday. He wasn't very happy at the time, having just woken up from a nap, but I managed to grab a couple good shots. This was one of the best.

Location
This photo was taken outside at a public park in North Carolina.Time
It was taken in the afternoon - somewhere around 2-4 pm.Lighting
I didn't do anything special, just worked with the lighting that I had (the sun); we were in the shade, so that helped give this a darker look, but still bright enough that the baby's face is fully visible.Equipment
Sony Alpha a57 with a 50mm prime lens, handheld.Inspiration
It was a birthday photo shoot for the baby of a close family friend.Editing
I can't remember all the specifics on the post-processing, except that I did have to remove some cake frosting from the baby's nose, then I used some sort of preset but don't recall exactly which one.In my camera bag
Camera body, lens (Sony 50mm or Sigma zoom), flash, and monopod or tripod.Feedback
Be patient. It's always a challenge working with kids, but if you hang in there, you'll get some great shots.
