Behind The Lens

Location

I captured this one in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, while staying oceanside with the family.

Time

The early bird gets the worm. While the rest of the vacationers slept in, I rise early on a July morning to get in position on the beach before the son began to reveal its first light.

Lighting

The was an incredible lavender/pink hue that began to envelope the horizon, and the taller building of North Myrtle created great perspective.

Equipment

This was my Canon EOS 50D, which I’ve since upgraded. Great camera! I used a Canon 75-300 lens.

Inspiration

I got tired of only enjoying breathtaking sunrises while on vacation. I wanted to remember this one.

Editing

Very light editing on contrast.

In my camera bag

Canon EOS 70D, Canon 75-300mm lens, Tamron 17-50 mm lens and a Sigma “Bigma” 50-500 mm lens.

Feedback

Get up early to get set, and watch the optimal colors, cloud patterns and landscape assets.
