Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken in my fatherland. I am a autodidact photographer, fond of capturing the little moments and nature that add beautiful colors in a journey. This little moments are always a cherished memoirs.

Time

As it was a baby shoot, it really needs patience. I wanted to start the photo shoot when the sun starts raising so that I can use natural light but due to baby's daily chores it apparently got late. So by the time I started it was almost 9 am and it went on till 12pm.

Lighting

The moment I saw my sleeping beauty, I felt like capturing that very serene moment. But I had no lights and strobe, so I used the household LED light and reflector. And the picture turned out to be beyond my imagination.

Equipment

This was shot on Nikon D3300 with 35mm f/1.8 lens.

Inspiration

I am very much fond of baby photo-shoot. I was waiting since months for my niece to sprinkle beautiful colors in our life. Now that she has come into our world, I just couldn't wait to capture my very dear niece. And that added much more excitement. I took little time to prepare as I wanted it to be the best. The first thing I did was, I made myself clear of what I wanted for the props. I bought all the props and made myself ready. And there I go! The first look of her is still so fresh in front of my eyes. The way she was sleeping and her beauty inspired me a lot to take this picture.

Editing

Yes I have done post-processing work on it, as it was indoor photo shoot with household LED light. Well it was challenging to get proper exposure. I always prefer to shoot in RAW so that there are lot of scope to develop photographs. I have developed this image in Adobe Light-room. I wanted a creamy skin tone and that was again an challenge for me. But when I accomplished it, the beauty of the picture crossed all the thresholds.

In my camera bag

As I am an autodidact photographer and loves exploring, my backpack always have my Nikon 35mm, kit lens and ND filters. I also carry macbook and pen tablet for immediate post-processing if needed.

Feedback

Patience is the most important key for this kind of photo-shoot. On a technical part you need to have proper lights, micro lens or prime lens. The other important that needs to be taken care of its prop. The baby should be very much comfortable with the prop. Anything soft such as fur, baby wraps, hair bands etc. can be used. What the matters the most is your imagination for clicking a pic. Have a very clear idea about want you want and need to be attentive because each of their moment are worth capturing.
