Location
I took this photo while visiting friends. My friend's fiance was doing some work with Iris, working on her movements and responses. Iris had a lot of energy that day, so my friend allowed her to let off some steam so she could then concentrate more.Time
It was around midday at the time, the clouds were gathering and we feared some rain was coming!Lighting
Sometimes you actually want an overcast of clouds to stop any harsh lighting/shadows on the subject your photographing, something I feel helped with this particular shot. However, having shot in such light, you may sometimes have to tweak the contrasts post-processing.Equipment
This was shot on a Nikon D3200 with an 18-55mm lensInspiration
Iris, herself, was the inspiration. Seeing her expel her energy in fantastic movements, I couldn't help but attempt to capture that!Editing
The only thing post-processing was a slight crop, and some added contrast to bring more definition to her tack.In my camera bag
I usually keep my Nikon D3200, with an 18-55mm lens, and a 55-200mm lens in my bag, with three spare batteries and a lens cleaning kit. A trick I picked up many years ago was keeping a clear shower cap in the bag! Put it on your camera with the lens poking out and you have yourself a cheap waterproofing cover for your camera!Feedback
Be ready! If you know how horses move, it'll be an easier time judging where and what they will be doing in your frame, allowing you to adjust and move accordingly with the animal to ensure you get the shot you want.
