Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken in Bloomington Minnesota. The young Eagle was over looking the Minnesota River.

Time

It was late afternoon. I had spotted him from a distance and hoped to get a closer shot. After finding my way through some thick brush low and behold I looked up and there he was.

Lighting

I was at the mercy of the Eagle and fortunately the only path I could take was on the right side of him to get a well lit shot.

Equipment

I was using my Canon 70D with my Tamron 150-600mm lens hand held.

Inspiration

Wildlife is my passion. He looked majestic sitting on the stump and he was high on the edge of a hill so he was almost at eye level. He sat nicely for me for a few fleeting seconds before taking flight over the river

Editing

I used photoshop raw to bring down the brightness a little and cropped it slightly. Sometimes you just get everything right and you don't have to do much to the photo.

In my camera bag

I generally carry two cameras. Right now I use my canon 5d Mark IV and my Canon 7d Mark II. I also have my Tamron 15-30 mm lens. Tamron 70-200 mm lens and my Tamron 150-600 mm lens. I also have my iPhone with me so when I am using my tripod I can use my Canon app on my iPhone to shoot photos with it so I don't even have to touch my camera to get some great still photos.

Feedback

Look up. I often times miss some great shots because I am walking a trail or through the woods not paying close enough attention to what may be watching me.
