Behind The Lens

Location

My name is Lane. I'm a self-taught amateur photographer living in Selkirk, Manitoba, Canada. I was walking along the Lockport Bridge when I noticed an opening in the bridge's framing. I had a peek. I wondered if my Nikon 180mm 2.8 prime would fit: indeed it did! When I had a look, I noticed an interesting photo with the way the sun and shadows were playing with the pelicans.

Time

I was hoping to take a sunset picture but caught this instead at around 8:00pm in June.

Lighting

Just the setting sun.

Equipment

Nikon D610, 180mm 2.8 prime, handheld.

Inspiration

I was looking for a sunset but got pelicans instead!

Editing

Just a little crop, color, and contrast adjustment in Light Room...but it's mostly right from camera.

In my camera bag

I like to carry around my Nikon 20mm 1.8 and my Nikon 50mm 1.8. I take my 180mm 2.8 if I know I'm taking long shots.

Feedback

I really took my time. I wandered the bridge for 30 minutes trying to find something interesting and unique. My eye luckily caught a spot between the bridge frame where the pelicans were hanging out.
