Behind The Lens

Location

This picture was taken at a studio where i studied Photography @ Fotovakschool Apeldoorn in the city of Apeldoorn ( The Netherlands ). She was the first model i'm working with for my theme named : Maluku & Tattoo. Here she had an tattoo with 3 butterflies. The model was half dutch and half Moluccan. She was the first of nine models i shoot with. All of the models had an Moluccan background all with tattoos .

Time

This photo was taken in the evening in the school where i studied. It was a one on one shoot with only this model.

Lighting

I used only one light that came from the left and flashlight in front of her . I took a grey background. this pose is one of my favorite pose because i don't want her to look in the camera. You can see or feel the sensitive pose she's in.

Equipment

I used my first Canon camera 500d. A flashtrigger of Cactus. No tripod used.

Inspiration

What inspired me is that i love tattoos and my Moluccan background. I mixed those two things to do shoots with peoples / models with the same background.and all having a tattoo..

Editing

This photo i shoot in Jpeg & raw. To make the photo stronger i want to change the color photo in black & white in photoshop.

In my camera bag

Mostly i still have my Canon 500d with a Sigma 24-70mm lens. Other lenses are the Canon 70-300 mm and a Canon 50mm & Canon 10-18mm. A Canon flashlight 580 ex. Not much but for me it is perfect to have those in my bag.

Feedback

My advice is to be comfortable with the model and stay relex and calm. Let her know what you want and tell her how she must pose in what you have in mind. Also think how many light you want to use. For me I used only 2 light source. One flashlight and one continu light.
