Behind The Lens

Location

I've taken this photo just outside of my house as I live near the campaign.

Time

It was about 11pm! It was dark outside, perfect to take great shot of lightning!

Lighting

I wanted this picture shows just lightning in the sky not the foreground, and the intensity of this impressive moment.

Equipment

This photo was taken with my good companion, my Sony Alpha 7, which is my first professional camera. I've taken my 20mm lens f1.8 from Sigma and my heavy but safe tripod.

Inspiration

I was waiting for lightning like this! This afternoon, it was my chance to catch it. I love taking landscape photos and this time wa a great opportunity to take an awesome picture.

Editing

I've done a post processing work, first with Capture one pro and then I've exported the three photos to photoshop to merge it. Finally i've merged two of the three photos which give this such resutlt!

In my camera bag

I have my Sony Alpha 7, 5 lenses from wide angle 20mm to tele 135-400mm. As I do a lot of long exposure, I have also ND filter 400 and 1000. I have an external microphone, four batteries for my grip, a remote for macro and long exposure, two tripod and one monopod, a ring flash for macro, etc So, sometimes my bag is very heavy as I have to walk to find the best photo spot! :)

Feedback

If you want to take this kind of photo, I advice to be in the darker place possible and use the long exposure. I've setted my camera at 30 seconds, ISO 200, and aperture f8.0. Take the wider angle lens you can get!
