Location
The Godafoss in Iceland. It is located in the Bárðardalur district of North-Central Iceland at the beginning of the Sprengisandur highland road. The water of the river Skjálfandafljót falls from a height of 12 meters over a width of 30 meters.Time
I took this image on May 23rd, 2016 at 3:08 am.Lighting
The image was taken during magic light hour less than an hour before sun came out.Equipment
I used Canon 5d mark III with 16-35mm F4 wide angle lens with a stable tripod. Also, a two stop gradual neutral density filter was used.Inspiration
I was in an Iceland photography trip with my coach Ken Fong. When he first drove us there, I was impressed with the panoramic view of the fall. Godafoss is waterfall of the gods. But Ken suggested me to take the shots later a few minutes before sun rose. Just a short hike, we got down to the fall. The sky, the fall and the water were all spectacular. I decided to find a warm foreground (the rock) to present the mood of the image.Editing
Yes, I did do post-Processing. For the rock, I used lightroom adjustment brush to emphasize the rock. Also, hues, saturation and luminance were all adjusted to show the outstanding colors taken in the imageIn my camera bag
I always keep a wide angle lens with me as a landscape photographer. Also, 2 stops soft gradual neutral density filter and hard neutral density filter. Also, a 5 stop and 10 stop neutral density filters.Feedback
If you will be in Iceland, always take advantage of the magic light. While others are sleeping, it is the best time to get beautiful pictures. Your camera will be able to capture all the colors from the sky, the water etc.
