Found this newborn fawn while moving irrigation water in the morning. The fawn was only hours old a still wet! Since newborn fawns lack their own scent the mothers will feed and hide their babies and then leave to feed themselves. They return periodically to check on and mother their young. This occurs until the fawn is a few weeks old and has acquired its own scent and is strong enough to stay with mama full time.
