Behind The Lens

Location

I found a neat spot at Wakaw lake, Saskatchewan. A small town that has a very big well know lake near my city of Saskatoon.

Time

I believe it was just after lunch when we found this spot. I loved the little picket fence and the old wood in the background.

Lighting

It was a bright sunny day so I was lucky to find a shady area to get this great shot!

Equipment

I used my Nikon D5500 with the kit lens 18-55. No other equipment!

Inspiration

I had just begun my photography diploma and gotten this camera, it was my very first camera and also my very first photo shoot! Who better for a model than my grandson! I had to take many, many shots and discovered that children though cute, are not easy to photograph. You have to be quick! I was lucky enough to snap a keeper!

Editing

No, I shot in monochrome so there was no post processing. I had no idea how to use Lightroom or Photoshop at the time. This was my first time using my camera.

In my camera bag

Now that I have gotten my Diploma, a bit more experience and have made some money I now have a 50mm prime lens that I love and plan to get more lenses and flashes.

Feedback

Be quick, stay at eye level, take a ton of photos and don't be afraid to take the pictures. I hear people say they are shy etc. I get right in there on all fours, upside down, roll around...whatever it takes to get that awesome shot!!
