This image was shot in my own backyard! I consider it my studio, because as my mother's caregiver, I spend a great deal of time at home. (and Home Collection...was way too Martha Stewart! :) Really blessed to currently live on the beautiful eastern shore of Lake Michigan. For a Nature photographer, it's pretty perfect!Time
My favorite time of day to shoot...evening! The hours before sunset are lovely for color.Lighting
Well, it's all about lighting isn't it? :) As both an artist & photographer I've been a student of light for 4 decades. And it's the capture of physical light, through a lens or a brush, that produces art. I fancy myself an artist before a photographer.Equipment
I'm on team Cannon. I'm all about the color. I don't shoot flash pics. And I really need a tripod! :) My images contain the info for each shot. Being a hard wired right brain person, equipment details bore me. (see...an artist 1st :)Inspiration
The fog rolling in off Lake Michigan. I looked out into my yard, and grabbed my camera with joy in my heart! Shooting in naturally defused light (fog) is always an amazing opportunity for fabulously dramatic images.Editing
Today's technology is magical to me. Many years ago I worked in a darkroom. Never got used to the smell... Today I work in Lightroom. It's amazing. I find myself sometimes thinking about how I'll process the shot before I take it. For me, it takes the creative process to a whole other level! In my camera bag

Study light. Study light. Study light! :) It changes. All the time. That's the magic of photography for me. Capturing a moment in time, and making it my own. Something specific... ok, see the shot before you look through the lens. Sorry, like I said ~ I'm a right brainer! :) And like anything else, don't over think it ~ you'll lose the joy of creating. <&bt;<
