I saw one of these birds last year (May, 2015) in Washougal, Washington. Didn't know what it was, a very striking bird!!

Thank you. Striking, and more so in their display for mates... I'm afraid that would soon fade, as there are, at least up this way, usually hundreds of them at every water spot. Each male trying to get to the highest point so it can call for mate. I you bird by ear... well, lets just say that all you will ever hear os the RWBL. Their juvenile male plumage patters are also very striking. Glad I could answer your question. David
