Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken in an abandoned air field in Somerset.

Time

This shot was taken around 11:30 am inside to abandoned control tower, using the natural light from the windows.

Lighting

Only used natural light from the window, i prefer to use natural lighting if i can.

Equipment

I used a Canon 5D Mk ii with one of my favourite lenses, my Canon 50mm Prime lens.

Inspiration

I have really never thought about doing portrait photography, but since working with Lucy doing her portfolio, it made get more and more into it. I just love doing portraits.

Editing

I only really use Ps cs6, and i mainly tweek, highlights and shadows, also play around with curves, but that really is all. I seem to have my camera working for me, as each shoot i do, i plan the edits in my head .

In my camera bag

I always have my Canon 50mm as its by far my favourite lens, even on landscapes its amazing. then i will pack my canon 24-103 lens, which is another of my most favourite lenses. i also have a canon 400mm for storm shots, so i can shot the big waves from a safe place.

Feedback

I would recommend finding an area where the natural light is good, also redundant buildings are great as a flaky painted wall backdrop is better than using a studio backdrop, plus this will give you a lots of different shots from different angels. As i have said earlier, i would highly recommend using a 50mm prime f1.8 for this kind of shot.
