I took the photo at the famous Gum Wall in Seattle, Washington.Time
I would say this was about in the late afternoon. We had just arrived in Seattle from a flight across the country. We decided to just walk around random streets and happened to stumble upon this wall.Lighting
I absolutely love the lighting of this photo, this wall is in a random alley behind the world famous Public Market. The sun was making it's way down the sky and was perfectly lighting the wall giving the gum a nice shadow.Equipment
This was shot on my Canon T4i with a 24mm "pancake" lens set to macro.Inspiration
Since this was such a popular tourist site there were loads of people taking pictures of themselves straight on with the wall. I decided to get up close and personal to all the "ABC" gum and get an angled shot to add more depth to it.Editing
Not too much, I just added some blue hue to create a mood and bumped up the saturation a bit to show all the colorful gum.In my camera bag
This trip I went on took me from Seattle to San Fransisco, and since we rented a car, I had everything with me I possibly could. I really love my super cheap 24mm lens it does such a great job at getting the fine detailed macro shots, but it also can be used to get super wide landscape shots as well. You can't beat it for the price.Feedback
I would say to always and try to think outside the box. There are so many photographers out there and it can sometimes be hard to stand out from the rest. Don't be afraid to try new angles or play around with the lighting from the sun to create unique shadows.
