Location
This photo was taken at the Sacramento Zoo in California. I am a self taught photographer, and I have continued to learn new techniques and ideas in addition to new subjects to photograph. Photographing the new lion cubs for the past two years has been a fun experience. The lion cubs have quite the personalities, and they are very entertaining as well.Time
This shot was taken at 10:24 am on April 14, 2015. I make it a point to take photographs very early in the mornings at the zoo as field trips usually arrive at 11:00 am. The lions are not too happy to see and hear the screaming children!Lighting
This photograph was taken with natural outdoor lighting.Equipment
This photograph was taken with a 70-300mm lens with a Nikon 5300 camera in addition to my tripod. I really enjoy the 70-300mm lens as I am able to capture the lions from a far away distance, and I am very pleased with the results.Inspiration
My love for cats (domestic and wild) is what inspired me to take this photo. Of course, their humorous personalities make it even more fun. My interest in photography began at 10 years of age when I received my first camera for my birthday.Editing
No post-processing or editing was utilized. When beginning photography, my interest was to capture the best shots that I could without having to edit. I have only taken my shots naturally without any type of editing. After two years of photographing, I am now interested in learning to edit as sometimes the photographs can be affected by too much sunlight. Now that I am further along with my photography hobby, I am planning on registering for a Photoshop class next Fall at a junior college. In my camera bag
I always carry my 70-300mm lens in my backpack as it comes in handy for all types of subjects to photograph. My Nikon 5300 is included as well; along with my extra battery, memory card and cleaning kit.Feedback
When photographing animals, I would have to say a lot of patience is required as they are so unpredictable and move quite fast at times. Committing to a period of time to capture that rare moment helps in addition to revisiting the same place if possible. Thank you ViewBug for selecting my photograph for a chance to be featured on your blog!
