Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken on a dance school, named i'art in lisbon, portugal

Time

It was taken during a night shooting, around 2 or 3 in the morning

Lighting

As it was on a room and i didn't like it, i just used the minimum light possible, so that you couldn't see the rest of the room. Using only one back light to create the scene and a frotal light to iluminate the subject

Equipment

At the time i used a canon 550D with a tokina 11mm - 16mm and a speedlite 320EX

Inspiration

I just simply love to photograph dancers, their movement always tells a story, and i just like to find the best way to capture that story

Editing

First from color to B&W, after that i tried to keep the light of the room to the minimum to get more attention on the subject. And played around with the shadows to add more drama

In my camera bag

Canon 70D , tokina 11mm - 16mm, canon 18-55 mm, canon 50mm and speedlite 320EX

Feedback

As a biginner myself, i always try to experiment with different angles, usually going for low angles to give more power to the subject, but i think everyone has their own style, just explore as much as you can untill you find your own
