Behind The Lens

Location

At the train station in Potchefstroom, South Africa.

Time

In the morning

Lighting

I used the natural light of the South African morning sun, it was summer when I took this photo.

Equipment

Nikon D3200 Camera with the Nikon DX 18-55 mm lens (no flash).

Inspiration

My friend asked me to take a few photos of her for her portfolio to enter a beauty pageant and I also wanted to build my own photographer's portfolio so I took this picture as a practice shot while she was leaning against a pillar talking to her boyfriend without noticing me taking pictures of her feet and this one actually made it to my portfolio.

Editing

I did do a bit of editing but only with the vignette frame and my watermark.

In my camera bag

My Nikon D3200 camera, the Nikon DX 18-55 mm and 55-200 mm lenses, the camera's charger, a SD card reader, my tripod and a lenspen (lens cleaner)

Feedback

I found that natural light is your best friend and capturing from an angle looking upwards create the illusion of longer legs (seeing as my friend is really short, she is +/- 1,5 m). So your eye level (your camera) should be ground level angled upwards.
