Awesome photo. I am a huge fan of English Bulldogs. I currently own a Mini Bulldog and in a couple weeks picking up my English Bulldog pup. They are a great pet. Owned one since I was a kid.

Behind The Lens

Location

The photo was taken in my yard in Mission, BC, Canada. I live on 2 1/2 acres in the country, so there is lots of space for the dogs to run around!

Time

It was taken in the late fall, I believe mid November, in the late afternoon, after the kids got home for school, as they were helping me getting the dogs to play.

Lighting

To be honest, I wasn't thinking about the lighting at the time, it was a bit cloudy for sure, with a few blue patches.

Equipment

The shot was taken with a Canon 7d Mark II, using a Tamron lens17-50 mm.

Inspiration

A month prior to taking this picture, I had started taking a beginners camera course, with Double Exposure. Part of my "homework" was to practice panning and action shots. I swear I must have taken a good 100 shots, changing the speed to see what was working. It was during that time that the dogs started playing tug of war with the stick. I started firing off a bunch of shots and the end result is the above picture!

Editing

The only post processing done to this photo was cropping it. Everything else is straight from the camera.

In my camera bag

I have to admit, my camera bag is heavy!! In it I have my canon 7d, polarize lenses, canon 70-300 mm lens, portrait lens, remote cable release, extra battery and memory card, flash, and a cloth to clean my lenses. It got to be too much that I needed to purchase a backpack camera case.

Feedback

Practice, practice, practice! I'm not going to lie, I was having troubles with the panning shots. But I am the type of person, that keeps persevering. Sometimes I have to walk away from the camera, and pick it up the next day. The best advice I received from my instructor was to take 100 pictures a day. I continue to do this, and have watched my photography evolve!
