Our family climbed up to Sunset Point on the island of Koh Rong Sanloem, in the Gulf of Thailand off of the southern coast of Cambodia. We enjoyed a beautiful sunset, and I accidentally left one of my lenses up at the point overnight. Very glad it was there in the morning, and that it didn't rain.

This photo was taken on the top of Sunset Point on the island of Koh Rong Sanloem off of the coast of Cambodia.Time
This was taken just before actual sunset on July 11, 2015, a Saturday evening, at 6:31pm. I was preparing to walk out onto the beach while staying at the Lazy Beach resort on Koh Rong Sanloem with my wife, three daughters, and my mother (who was visiting us from the USA). I was hoping to see a decent sunset from the beach, but the staff at the bar mentioned that I might want to check out Sunset Point at the top of the island. The six of us walked up to the top, but the bugs were pretty bad, so just a few of us stayed. I was glad I did :-) The next morning I woke up and was packing my camera gear, and realized that I left one of my lenses up on the top of the island on the rock you see in the photo. Before walking back to the boat across the island to leave, I was glad to hike back up and see that it had not rained or been too windy that night. My lens was still there!Lighting
I really liked how the sun was hitting the waves as they came in for the evening.Equipment
Nikon D7000 camera, Tokina 11-16mm lensInspiration
I love capturing sunsets. There was no better place on the island to capture it. If a sunset over the ocean on an exotic island isn't inspiring to you, I am not sure what to say.Editing
I used Adobe Lightroom to process the photo. Some basic cropping was done, but nothing drastic. In my camera bag
I will typically have the body, the typical kit lens, a wide angle lens, and a telephoto lens. I have since switched from Nikon to Sony, so the gear details have changed. The lens types have not, though. I will also carry an ND filter, a cleaning cloth, cleaning brush, a remote shutter (Triggertrap mobile is what I use), as well as spare batteries and memory cards.Feedback
Be willing to make your body tired when trying to get the best images. If you are not willing to sacrifice time and energy, you will not succeed. It's challenging when you sacrifice and the sunset does not cooperate. But then there are evenings like this one, where it was so worth it.
