Behind The Lens

Location

I took this photo outside regents street of my cousin, Ava. I wanted to gain some practise of photography with models, as I am a self taught photographer, so she offered to help me with it. She had been modelling for me in the park and as we left, I was checking through the images on my camera; I looked up and saw her on her phone so just grabbed this snap of her. The only unstaged photo of the day was the best!

Time

3 pm

Lighting

I wanted this to be a bright, captive image. It is representing what many people are becoming. Statues. The are blending into the background of the city. The lighting is natural, with just slight addition to the exposure.

Equipment

This was shot on a Nikon D3200 18-55mm. No other equipment.

Inspiration

It was a very, in the moment image. But it kind of shows how people are missing the really beauty of the world. We were in the heart of London and all you can see of the people is them look down at there phones. If you decide to look up, you can see all the wonder that London holds.

Editing

Very minimal changes were made. Increased the expose and increased focus on the model.

In my camera bag

As an armature photographer, I have very little equipment. My Nikon D3200 and 18-55 mm lens. Just need a good eye for an image.

Feedback

I have learned that the best images are unstaged. Never take one photo of a particular scene. Usually after a day of photography, I have over 1000 photos and only end up keeping about 30-50 of them.
