Behind The Lens
Location
I took this photo on the beach in Oregon. The light is usually right there since many days it is cloudy.Time
This photo was taken late morning. We were want=dering the beach and I had my camera in tow. I was looking at all the different things I could take pictures of. When we came upon this driftwood, I was so amazed because it was so large and beautiful. I didn't just want a picture of the piece of wood so I stood behind it and crouched down to get the view behind too. It was actually one of the first pictures I took so I didn't know much about photography.Lighting
I was just thankful there wasn't harsh lighting. A cloudy day makes for fun photos.Equipment
I used a NikonD3000, Aperture 10/1, ISO 100, Shutter 25/1000, Focal Length 80/1. I did not take my tripod so it was handheld.Inspiration
I love the ocean. I loved the beauty of the image when I looked through my lens. Everything about this image screams the beach so I wanted to capture it. Take it home and have that memory forever.Editing
I took this picture when I was new to photography. I was trying very hard not to post-process. I wanted my images to be real and original. If I did anything in post-processing it was very minimal, like removing dust from the image. I figured if I could figure that out in the beginning I could learn post-processing later and add to the images. In my camera bag
I usually have two lenses. One for close up and one for far away. my camera, filters, cleaning kit, mosquito wrist band, off-camera flash, and an extra battery. It is different every time depending on what I am going to shoot.Feedback
I would say remember that you are making a scene not a picture. Maybe you need to stand but maybe it will look better on your knees. Make sure to bring your camera up so you see the location with the main focus of the image. Do it on a cloudy day or for another look at sunrise or sunset. Oceans are beautiful then. If you want to break the rule of thirds. I did and I centered the image. Then when you get home, frame it so you will always remember it.
