This was taken on our afternoon game drive. Afternoon game drives started about 4 o'clock and went until about 8 o'clock.Lighting
The sun was starting to set when this picture was taken. I was just along for the ride during the game drive so I just had to hope for the best.Equipment
This was taken with my old Canon Rebel T2i with a Tamaron 70-300 lens.Inspiration
We were really enjoying watching the little fella. He was quite humorous...shaking his little trunk and mimicking the adults. He never got too far from mama though. I liked this photo because most babies like to be next to mom, whether you are a little kid or a 300 pound baby elephant.Editing
I do very little post processing. I am not very good with computers and would need a serious class to learn how to do all the cool stuff available. That being said I tend to like less processed photos anyway. In my camera bag
As an amateur my equipment is not expensive and most of it is getting a bit old. But what the heck. I have a good time with it. I have a Canon T2i that my husband bought me several years ago for Christmas. I have my Tamaron 70-300, also in the bag is the an old Sigma 20-80mm lens. I use to use it on my film camera, if that tells you how old it is...but it takes great macro shots. My newest lens acquisition has been an Yongnuo 50mm 1.8 lens. It was terribly cheap and takes great pictures. The other things I always keep in my bag is a card with name, address, phone number. The bag has been all around, so far I have not needed to hope my 'if I lose the bag plan' backup works. I always keep extra memory cards. I have been fortunate to take some awesome trips and do not want to run out of storage. I take a pen to mark my memory cards. I also have my camera book in case of trouble. I also have a few large pieces of gauze for cleaning and packing equipment. Oh and don't forget the extra battery and charger.Feedback
I don't have specific advice on how to take something similar. Watch the animals interacting with one another. Just keep shooting! I had no control of my position or lighting as we were in a game vehicle. Go with what you got.
