Location
Many people call this the witches house, and if you are lucky you can see Hans and Gretel pass by. Well, it is an abandoned house in the middle of a forest in Denmark. It's previous owner died many years ago and it was not taken care of since.Time
It was about 2 am and the witch had just left the building.Lighting
I am glad that it was cloudy that day, it adds to the loomy mood in this picture and the fact that it was January without any leaves on the trees, helped very much to accentuate the mood.Equipment
On this particular case I used a Sony Alpha 58 with the 18-55mm kitlens. because of the clouds I had to use ISO 1000 to be able to use f/4 and 1/160 Sek.Inspiration
I love abandoned places and as soon as I heard about this place, I was hooked. I visited the place again in summer, but unless the sun is in the right position, it is better and darker in mood in winter.Editing
I this case I just tweaked the contrast just a tiny bit, otherwise I lift this picture alone. In my camera bag
My wife would say way too much! Well I usually carry the previously mentioned kitlens with me. Besides that a 75-300mm lens f/4.5-5.6 and a 28-80mm f/3.5-5.6, both Minolta. Recently I got my hands on a 50mm prime lens with f/1.7, also Minolta. Well and then there is the usual spare battery, som skylight and polarisation filtersFeedback
Once you find a location like that, get millions of shots from millions of angles, so you don't get home thinking you forgot something. On that particular day I got about 250 shots from 50, 10, 5 meters away, and even some of the interior, even to though I did not dare to get inside because of the dangers with these very rotten beams inside. From this particular angle I got about 20 shots and only 3 or 4 were right.
