A fascinating piece of abandoned architecture with a noble history! A Julius Rosenwald school in the Northern Neck region of Virginia. One of nearly 5000 built across the South and funded by the Sears Roebuck and Co. By decision of their chairman of the board. 308 were built in Virginia, as Southern whites had little interest in the educational needs of freedom African Americans. It opened in 1917 and closed in 1958. It has an outbuilding of smaller stature, but similar architecture where boys were taught shop-carpentry skills.
