Behind The Lens

Location

this photo was taken at a community run country park & lake in north east Scotland. I was lucky to spend some precious time with this wee one and its 5 siblings and very trusting parents. I love wildlife so to capture a shot like this means the world to me.

Time

this was taken on a lovely summers evening, it was such a joy sitting at the edge of the lake watching all 6 Cygnets watching and learning from their very attentive parents.

Lighting

would have been better if the swans were somewhere with more light but thats the thing i love about nature and wildlife, its real!!

Equipment

this was shot with a Nikon D3200 with my 55-300mm lens

Inspiration

the beautiful elegance and pure love of the Mute Swans were the only inspiration needed

Editing

if needed i usually enhance levels, contrast and colour just to bring the subject out more

In my camera bag

I always have my Nikon D3200, my Nikon DX 55-300mm lens, my Nikon DX 18-55mm lens, at least two spare batteries, and my Opteka macro attachment in my bag.

Feedback

the only advice i have for wildlife photography is to always respect the welfare of the animal/bird you are photographing as you are in their space they are not in yours and have patience.
