This photo was taken on the Hood River Marina in Hood River, Oregon.Time
This image was taken around one in the afternoon, right before it started to hail the size of golf-balls!Lighting
This was the second photo I ever took with my camera. I read a lot about shooting in "M" mode, and I took one practice shot, adjusted my ISO, and shutter speed and ended up with this. I love this photo for so many reasons, but two of the main reasons are the foggy background due to to the water being warmer than the actual temperature outside, and the second being this is my oldest child, and she was such a trooper in the freezing cold!Equipment
This image was shot on a Canon Rebel T5 with a 50mm 1.8 lens. No other equipment was used.Inspiration
I was looking to see if I even felt a connection to photography, I knew I had an interest, but I wanted to see if I could 1.) take a picture in manual mode that would turn out and 2.) feel a connection to a photo SOOC without forcing my vision in Photoshop and to see if I "had the eye". So, I bought a camera, and a descent & affordable lens for a newbie, read up on shooting in manual, and dragged my daughter out in the cold to take some candid shots. The rest is history- I LOVE my job as a professional photographer.Editing
My main goal with any type of processing is to nail the shot(s) in camera, so I can focus on my clients and client relationships, versus spending hours in Photoshop, etc fixing my images. I do use Photoshop to brighten/darken my images, fix blemishes, but it is rare that I spend more than 10 minutes on each image making adjustments. On the flip-side, I have clients that have a very artistic vision for a session, and that is when I spend the hours in Photoshop bringing their ideas to life! It gives me an awesome balance of being artistic with my camera, posing, etc and creating literal magic in Photoshop! In my camera bag
I always carry two Canon 7D Mark II bodies in my bag. One has a my 50mm 1.2 attached to it, and the other will have either my 35mm or 24-70mm attached. I like to have my wide angles handy just in case! I also have a shutter buddy because it helps tremendously for those posed shots with little ones/animals. Then of course I have an umpteen amount of memory cards that range from 8-32GB.Feedback
Like I mentioned before, this was my second ever picture I ever took, and it was a chilly, newly fall, day in the Columbia River Gorge. Pre-hail, the lighting wasn't too harsh, and with the exception of the temps being low 50's, I let her do her own thing, and captured an amazing shot that I have framed on my wall!
