Location
This photo was taken while some friends and I were hiking one day around the canyons where I live in Northern California. There are remains of old gold mines littered all throughout the canyons and this is the opening of one I just happened to stumble upon.Time
We had been hiking for several hours and it was about mid-day, maybe 1 or 2 o'clock. It had been cloudy all week and began to rain soon after I took this shot.Lighting
I didn't really think about the lighting when I took this, I just thought it looked cool to be looking out from the inside of the cave.Equipment
This was shot with my Nikon D3300 using my Nikkor 18-55mm lens.Inspiration
I can't say anything really inspired me to take this photo. I just thought it would look interesting.Editing
I spent about half an hour playing around in Lightroom 6 with this photo seeing what would make it look best. There wasn't anything to difficult or note worthy about the process, although I remember I spent more time making the clouds just the way I liked. But looking back on the photo now I can see several things I would change about it.In my camera bag
Normally I'll just have my Nikon D3300, my two Nikkor lenses 18-55mm and 55-200mm, and a 10" spider tripod.Feedback
The only advise I could give to take something similar to this is to go off the beaten path when exploring outdoors. Try to find somewhere with little to no human interaction, the more secluded the better.
