Behind The Lens

Location

Russet Gardens, Temple Ewell, Dover

Time

It was midday on a bright sunny day

Lighting

The lighting is all natural as it was taking outdoors, luckily it was clear sky's meaning I could achieve a bright photo

Equipment

I used a Nikon dslr d5200 and a Nikon lens with a 18-150 zoom

Inspiration

I was inspired by other users on viewbug who had taken amazing close up images of insects. They showed clear details of the many features of insects creating a beautiful image

Editing

I increased the lighting of the photo as well as the contrast so the bright colours would stand out and create a more interesting photo. I also faded the focus on the edges so the eye is drawn to the insect in the photo rather than the other features in the photo.

In my camera bag

As I am only young I can't afford a lot of equipment so I only have a camera and lens. However I am hoping to expand my equipment as soon as I can afford to do so

Feedback

Anyone can take a good photo whether it's a mobile phone or professional camera. You need a good eye to spot a photographic opportunity as it may be as small as this insect. Try to choose a day with good weather to help with the lighting and keep very still when taking these types of photos as any shaking could mean that the camera won't focus on the insect.
