I took this photo in an old church in the national park of Cades Cove in Tennessee. This park is great for wildlife, mountain views, water falls and photos like you see. Once you go into the park it's a one way trip for 11 miles. The old cabins and churches with the old windows have great natural lighting coming through. This photo I only used one filter and other than that it's all natural. The wonderful little girl is my 5 year old step daughter and she loves the camera. I really enjoy photographing our children for they know how to work the camera well. Right before we took this shot she was running, playing, and laughing. But when it came time for the photo I told her to sit by the window and told her what kind of look I was looking for and this is what she gave me.Time
For these kind of shots in the Cove, I normally take them around 5:00 PM, but there are other buildings in the park that works great at different times of the day.Lighting
This shot is all natural lighting no fill in light.Equipment
I am a Cannon guy and Cannon lens, but I do like Sigma lens as well. I carry my tripod with me at all times but normally just have my camera in my hand for these shots.Inspiration
Children just have such a sweet look about them that really makes a wonderful shot. But the key in getting the right shot with a person, is to get the none cheesy smile. You can tell when a person can totally block out the moment and take you to where they are in their mind. My 8 year old daughter is really great with this.Editing

To name a few, time is important, try to never get in a hurry, when you get in a hurry you can forget a camera setting or miss something in the shot. Lighting is a major key and is a must to have correct. Having a subject that knows you and is comfortable with the camera is just as important. There is also a lot of great videos on line to give you inspiration, I enjoy Karl Taylor and my own best friend's dad has helped me a lot with 45 years under his belt.
