Ol' Man

This is visual poetry to me. I volunteer my photography at my local animal shelter, and this guy had everything going against him. He was elderly, sick, and a hound dog (which in my area is a near death sentence). His misfortune led him to a kill facility, and there wasn't but a shred of hope for this guy. This image, which shows a profound amount of love in his eyes, was his golden ticket to being rescued. The same day that I emailed this photo to the shelter, they contacted me and said that it was this photo that led to a rescue organization taking him. His eyes speak words that only your heart can hear. He is now living out his days in the care of a foster family, who spend every day marking items off a bucket list for him.
