Behind The Lens

Location

This photograph was taken at Lilleshall Abbey in Shropshire UK

Time

I took this image mid morning

Lighting

It was a very bright day do I decided to give HDR a try. I took 5 images and combined them

Equipment

I use a Sony Alpha 290 with the kit lens 55-200. It was only the second time I used a DSLR camera and was trying to get the hang of it

Inspiration

I have always loved ruins and this was the first time I had visited here. I loved the way the light came through the window

Editing

I had herd about HDR process from one of the magazine's I buy, it came with a free download to use with Photoshop. So I thought I would give it ago. I was impressed with the results and have used it again

In my camera bag

I have just re-kitted my bag. I recently purchased a new Nikon DS3300 with the kit lens and a sigma 55-200. Also a Nikon 50mm prime lens. ND filters a tripod and monopod. 3 spare batteries and 3 32 SD cards

Feedback

Timming is everything. I spent 3 hours at this site waiting for the sun to move into the right place in the sky to catch this image. More forward planning on my behalf would have helped. I recently purchased a couple of books called The photographer's guides. It gives you locations and the best time of day and year to shoot. As a newbie I could them a great help.
