Location
This was taken in my paddock, next to our home in Norsewood, New Zealand.Time
This was such a wonderful fluke find for me. It was early in the morning, the sun had just started to light the long grass in our paddock. Luckily I didn't have to go to work that morning and walked out in my PJ's camera in hand hoping to capture the sparkles created by the sun hitting the heavy dew. So I'm down amongst the grass but it's not quite going the way I had hoped, then I rotate my camera to see this moth on a blade of grass frozen in time. I actually held my breath when I took this, I really couldn't believe my luck.Lighting
The sun was slowly rising to the front the moth, I had to try to position myself so as not the get glare but instead get the sun in the dew on and around the moth. It was that gorgeous golden first light of the morning and I love the bokeh in this image which I feel is just right and not too distracting.Equipment
I didn't use a tripod for this image I was holding the camera whilst on the ground on my elbows, I'm sure it was quite a sight! Elbows down, bum up! I used my Nikon 5200, Nikon 18-55mm f 3.5-5.6 lens and I used the macro setting on the camera as I just didn't want to loose this image by stuffing up.Inspiration
The light on the heavily dewed grass was just beautiful, golden, warm light on long summer grass that sparkled with dew drops. I couldn't resist trying to capture some of that natural beauty.Editing
When I shot this I only had my Nikon editing software so all I did was convert the image from raw to jpeg and crop it a little. In my camera bag
I'm a budget photographer, as a mum of 2 my hobby comes a way down the list of priorities! I only have 2 lens, my Nikon 18-55mm and my Tamron 16-300mm. I had just recently purchased the Tamron lens as I really wanted a good all round lens so I can take photos of my kids playing sport and maybe after mum could have some time to play! I always have spare batteries and SD cards in my bag and filters. I love my filters, I have a Viltrox neutral density filter and a 6 point star filter and am saving for a infer red filter. I also have a small tripod in my bag but if going out just to do photos I take my larger bulkier tripod which my dad found thrown out because the quick release plate was missing. I got a new plate for my birthday and hey presto! I also carry lens cleaning equipment with me as there's nothing worse that spots on your lens!Feedback
My advise would be really look around you, stay in one place get the most out of that area you never know what you might find when you really look!
