Behind The Lens

Location

Backwoods North Carolina. There's dense woods right outside my house where I often walk and take interesting photos.

Time

I'd say afternoon, probably 4:00 PM.

Lighting

I felt that the lighting was just perfect for what I was capturing, the sunlight came shining through in the background which made for a great colorful photo.

Equipment

Canon EOS 5D Mark II with a Canon Zoom lens EF 35-80mm.

Inspiration

I saw my cat out in the perched on a log, the lighting was just right because it was the time of day when the sunlight came shining directly through the trees. I thought it would be the perfect opportunity to shoot such a photogenic cat.

Editing

I used Adobe Photoshop to color correct and also enhanced the color in the cat's eyes just a bit.

In my camera bag

Canon 5D Mark II with a 35-80mm lens, a 50mm macro lens, and a 70-300 zoom lens.

Feedback

Try to capture the moments that aren't everyday. I didn't grab my cat and set it up on the log in the woods, I just found her that way. I suggest going out with your camera and looking for the awe moments in life that you would like to capture and share. Sometimes that means going out and not finding anything worth saving...But keep an eye out for good material.
