Location
Speke Hall in Liverpool which is a National Trust property. It was my first visit and I had gone to show my daughter Matilda the bluebells. We were due to go on a family holiday a few weeks ago, but she had caught chicken pox meaning we couldn't fly and go away and the nursery couldn't accept her! I'd taken the time off to look after her and I had to find somewhere to go where there weren't too many people... she was still a little spotty!Time
It was around 3pm in the afternoon. I'd spent to day at home with her and the day was glorious so decided to grab the camera and head out.Lighting
The sun was all that was needed!.... it was breaking through the canopy in the woods and creating a great balance, bouncing off the flowers, trees and my little girl.Equipment
I used my Nikon D3300 and 55mm - 300mm lens. I tried a few shots standing up, but decided to lie down to get more of the bluebells into the frame.... I need to buy some more equipment!Inspiration
I grew up on a farm as a kid and there was a small wood. There was always an amazing blanket of bluebells. Now living in a city, I wanted to show my daughter them and reminisce my own childhood and capture Spring. She was transfixed, so much so I couldn't get her to look up!Editing
I'm really new to any post processing and part of the reason I came onto Viewbug was to learn by looking at other's photos to see what can be done. his is the original, copied from the memory card started onto the site.In my camera bag
I've always loved photography and when the kids came along I want to get into it more than just using my phone so brought the Nikon D3300 as it was an affordable step up. I love the 55mm-300mm which has changed everything! It's really easy to use and allows me to be more creative when taking photos from further away. it means I can capture a more natural photo.Feedback
Matilda can only really just sit by herself - so I used the tree to the left to prop her up! I guessed I could spend a little more time taking the photos as she wouldn't fall or get tired. It framed the photo and let me introduce more of the bluebells into the frame. I'd love any further advice myself! I'm really happy people like the photo. Thanks, Charlie
