Behind The Lens
Location
This shot was taken at Hampton Court Palace. There's a park nearby and I was testing out my new lens when I noticed the bird which seemed oblivious to my presence.Time
I was with a friend and we'd been around the palace grounds to get some frames when we decided to head to the nearby park to capture some local Deer. By this time it was around 3 ish in the afternoon. The bird seemed tame as it wasn't phased by us being there, he hung around for a while so I was able to get shots of him from all different angles.Lighting
Natural daylight with some sun to contend with.Equipment
Nikon D500 with my new (at the time) 150-600mm zoom lens.Inspiration
It was meant to be a day at Hampton Court, but we had time to spare so made the most of it by going to the park. I was immediately struck by the birds blue eyes, that's how to tell the difference between a Crow and a Jackdaw, although they are from the same family; there are many noticeable differences between them.Editing
I try to keep my nature photographs as natural as possible to capture the scene as I see it.In my camera bag
I have two camera bodies but don't always use them at the same time (except at festivals). If I'm shooting wildlife, I'll always use my Nikon D500 because of it's frame rate and focus abilities. For landscapes and portraits, I'll use my Nikon D750. My lenses are; Tamron 150-60mm, Tamron 70-300mm, Tamron 90mm macro, Tamron 24-70mm, Tamron 15-30mm and my Nikon 50mm.Feedback
For wildlife, try to get on their level, focus on their eyes. Most importantly, be patient!
