Behind The Lens

Location

This shot was done at Qasr Al Hosn Festival, Abu Dhabi, Qasr Al Hosn Festival is an annual event held on the grounds of Qasr Al Hosn that celebrates the history of the fort and many centuries of heritage, history and Emirati culture and tradition of UAE.

Time

There were a lot of visitors crowded around the falcon show area, and I tried to get nearby the falcon. I remember that this shot was taken about 5:00 pm that day.

Lighting

When I standing and focusing in front of the falcon, suddenly it was turning and fixing eyes on my lens, I took 7 shots continually and separately. It was lucky that the sunlight was painting on the head of falcon. I would like to try choosing and using ambient light when I take photos, and in such a way photos may appear a unique natural beauty sometimes..

Equipment

This photo was taken with Nikon D300s and AF-S ED 70 -300 mm 1 : 4.5 - 5.6 G IF-ED, without tripod, no flash and others.

Inspiration

Several years ago I was getting in love with falcons when I first met it. I found that falcon has its own beauty and glamour. It is said that Arab falconry dates back at least to 3500 BC when it was practiced in Iraq. Falconry became a cultural symbol of the region and the UAE's national emblem and today fifty percent of all falconers come from the Middle East.

Editing

Somehow I do not like to waste my time on post-processing for my photos, but this photo was only simply cropped and contrasted with PICASA 3.

In my camera bag

At present I always like to use Nikon D300s, AF-S DX 17-55 MM f/2.8 G IF-ED and AF-S ED 70-300 mm 1:4.5-5.6 G IF-ED.

Feedback

For any category of photos, choosing and using right light sources is very important.
