So I look outside the boat
and see this beautiful blue heron
just standing in the tulles
near the edge of the water.
I can not believe my luck.
I have been waiting months to get a good photo of a heron
and always seem to see them as they are flying away...
never a chance to grab a camera and get a good photo...

so not only am I excited?
I am nervous I can't pull it off with my old camera,
the only one with any battery life!

Quietly, I open the door
and stick my arm out and shoot three photos in a row,
hoping one of them comes out before he flies away.
I snapped three photos
the boat is shifting and bobbing
and I am so trying to hold still
while the wind is buffeting the boat
sending it in motion
while I try hard to hold steady.

I am hoping he looks
as beautiful in these pics
as he looks to me.

I was pleasantly surprised.
