On the outskirts of Accra, along the polluted waters of the Korle Lagoon, lies Old Fadama. The slum has become the resting place of electronics from the West. A digital dumping ground. The once benevolent act of donating used computers has become corrupted. Unsalvageable electronics are exported to Ghana in mass quantities. Young children spend the day searching for metals to sell, usually by burning the electronics and dismantling them with their barehands. A young girl steps out of a pink house. The pink color belies the struggle of the slum. There is beauty here, even in Old Fadama.
