Behind The Lens

Location

This photograph was taken in the grounds of Arundel Castle. I am a amateur photographer but growing and learning with every shot taken.

Time

It was about 3pm in the afternoon and they had just watered the plants. I took the shot hoping to capture the colour and water droplets on the flowers.

Lighting

It decided that l wanted the colours to stand out and the water droplets to subtly catch the viewers eye. I relied on the natural light and did a small amount of editing.

Equipment

I used a hand held Canon EOS 5D mark 2.

Inspiration

The beauty of the flowers and the presence of the water droplets enhanced the image.

Editing

A little using the editing package supplied with the photographic soft ware that came with my Apple Mac. Just increased the exposer slightly and increased the saturation.

In my camera bag

My Canon EOS 5d an EF lens 28-135mm and a zoom lens 200mm. I tend to be an opportunistic photographer but will plan shoots and adjust equipment accordingly.

Feedback

Be observant and grasp the opportunity. Focus on the basic skills needed to capture a good image. That is hold the camera steady, frame the shot and snap. Look at the finished product in the back of the camera and if dissatisfied adjust the appropriate settings and go again. Be patient.
